Gail E. Koester, age 66 of rural Denison, passed away with family by her side on Sept.18, at Rochester Methodist Hospital. Gail E. (Wright) Koester was born to Russell Wright & Stella (Siefken) Wright on Oct. 31, 1941, in Sioux Rapids. She was baptized at the Little Sioux Valley Lutheran Church and confirmed at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Rembrandt. As a child, Gail and her sister, Lois, would go with their parents into Rembrandt, where Gail's dad would run the picture show. Gail learned her hard work ethic on her parents' farm. Gail had a beautiful singing voice and sang in choirs and choruses at church and school. Gail graduated from Rembrandt High School in 1959 where she also played the tenor saxophone in the school band.

After she graduated from Waldorf Junior College, she then moved to Northfield, Minn., where she worked in the office of the treasurer of St. Olaf College for a number of years. She was united in marriage to David Koester on April 23, 1966, at St. John's Lutheran Church. Together they farmed in the Denison area, raising three children. While raising their children Lori, Mark, and Lynette, Gail returned to work at Ryt-Way Packaging and Northfield Retirement Center.

What Gail really enjoyed was being with her family, whom she loved dearly, and nearby friends. She also enjoyed vacations to Northern Minnesota with extended family. In her free time, and in her retirement Gail enjoyed spending time on their farm, playing with her three grandchildren, cooking meals that they all enjoyed, and caring for her kitty cats.
