In his fourth meet this year, Paul Yak turned in another brilliant performance for the Tornadoes as the Storm Lake junior won for the third time. Yak's only other result was second during the Storm Lake Invitational.
On the short course, Yak ran a blistering 15:26 en route to the victory. Spirit Lake's Alec Baldwin took second out of 91 in the boys race at 15:30.
"What another great night for Paul Yak as he won his 3rd meet of the year," said head coach John Brostad. "All our runners ran great times as it was a very flat course on a nice evening. Eddie Rios was our #2 runner as he was 51st in 17:39
The boys team took ninth place overall behind some top-notch competition. Spirit Lake continues to be the dominant team in the area as they took 1st overall in both the boys and girls races. The Indians are ranked 2nd in the state currently.
The girls team finished tenth overall on Tuesday led by Christine Becker. The senior finished 20th overall in the two mile distance as she was clocked at 16:16. Sophomore Emily Mohr had a strong outing as she took 44th overall at 17:04.
The Tornadoes race again on Tuesday, September 30th. Storm Lake will be traveling to Denision with middle school races starting at 4:30 PM.
