The Cyclones volleyball squad took the court on Saturday as they traveled to the Twin River Valley Volleyball Tournament and took home top honors.
Alta topped Southeast Webster in two straight games, 25-18 and 25-13. In the championship game, the Cyclones swept the hosts in three games 25-18, 25-13, and 25-15.
"This was definitely our best offensive showing of the year," said the Cyclones' head coach Jeannie Henningsen. "We passed the ball well and Courtney had her best day of setting. She did a great job of mixing up the hits for the girls and we had some great kills. Jordan and Hillary really stepped up their hitting today."
In the five games played, setter Courtney Van Haaften recorded 43 assists as the Cyclone offense thrived over the weekend.
Jordan Henningsen was the leading hitter for Alta as she totaled 20 kills over during the tournament action. Hillary Glienke finished with 12 and Ashley Syndergaard had seven.
On the defensive end, Henningsen led the way for the Cyclones with 17 digs and a block to her credit.
VanHaaften finished with seven digs and led Alta with three blocks during the tournament.
Geneva Heschke also totaled seven digs on Saturday and Syndergaard added to her team lead in blocks as she collected two.
The Cyclones move to 9-2 on the season following their tournament victory.
The girls will take the court again on Thursday when they travel to take on the Aurelia. Games start at 5:30 PM.
