The Aurelia Bulldogs had plenty of offensive success against the #6 team in 8-man football, but every Aurelia score was answered in kind by Ar-We-Va and six interceptions hampered their progress as they fell 51-24 Friday night.
Trailing 13-0 in the second quarter, Zach Nixon got the Bulldogs on the scoreboard as he recovered a fumble in the endzone to bring them within seven. The PAT was no good, and Ar-We-Va struck back with consecutive scores before and after the half to increase their edge to 25-6.
Jacob Howey scored on a 12-yard run with just under six minutes left in the third quarter to bring Aurelia within two scores.
Ar-We-Va would put two more consecutive TDs on the board to start the fourth and put the game out of reach.
Camrin Myers hit Anthony Fowler on a 45-yard pass in the fourth and Steve White dashed for a 66-yard TD to round out the Bulldog's scoring.
Aurelias rushed for 190 yards led by Howey's 76. White finished with 66, and Myers 29.
Fowler was the leading Aurelia receiver as he hauled in 90 yards on the night.
Aaron Bruce had one grab for 22 yards to go along with 137 yards on kick-off returns, but saw his streak of games with a return for TD snapped. He also totaled 12 tackles on the night, second to White's 16.
The Bulldogs drop to 2-2 with the loss. They will be in action at home this Friday as they host Spalding Catholic (0-4).
