Annabel McManus

Sept. 14, 1922 - Sept. 6, 2008

Annabel McManus, age 85, died Saturday, Sept. 6, 2008 at Loring Hospital in Sac City.

Services for Mrs. McManus were held on Wednesday, Sept. 10, at United Church of Christ in Fonda, with Pastor Greg Baskerville officiating. Burial followed in Cedar Cemetery in Fonda. The Mahaney Funeral Home in Fonda was in charge of the arrangements.

Annabel Benton was born on Sept. 14, 1922 to Claude and Carrie (Griese) Benton. She graduated from Dolliver High School in 1940.

On Jan. 1, 1947, Annabel was married to Olaf James McManus. They were blessed with two children: a son, Dennis, and a daughter, Darla.

The couple lived and raised their family on a farm near Armstrong until 1966, when they moved to Fonda and purchased the Tool & Die Shop.

Annabel was a member of the Presbyterian Church, American Legion Auxiliary, and was treasurer of her church for over 15 years.

Survivors include her son Dennis and his wife Shelly of Fonda; grandchildren: Michael Menke, Danielle Merten, Sarah Richardson, Renee Flowers and Tony Menke; her great-grandchildren: Jacob Menke, Rachel Menke, Karis Richardson, Seth Jarvis, Allison Richardson, Fischer Flowers and Kyle Merten; extended family and many friends.

Annabel was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Olaf; her daughter, Darla, in 1987; and her sister, Doris.

Ardelle Bruns

Ardelle Bruns, age 82, of Spirit Lake, Iowa and formerly of Storm Lake, died Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2008, at Lakes Regional Healthcare in Spirit Lake.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 13, 2008 at Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home at 1615 West Milwaukee Street in Storm Lake. Burial will be in Storm Lake Cemetery. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.

Friends may call on Friday, Sept. 12, 2008 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home at 1615 Milwaukee in Storm Lake, where a Legion of Mary Rosary will be recited at 6:00.
