The newly formed Alta Library Friends (ALF) group invite everyone to attend its first meeting and hear a special presentation by author Jo Kline Cebuhar.
This event will take place Sunday at the Alta Community Library, 3-5 p.m.
Jo Kline Cebuhar is a graduate of Iowa State University and Drake Law School. An attorney and business owner for over 20 years, Cebuhar served on the Board of Iowa's first and largest hospice organization, Hospice of Central Iowa, from 2000 to 2005 and as the Chairman of its Board from 2003 to 2004. After five years of research on demographics and end-of-life planning throughout the United States, she wrote and published, "Last Things First, Just In Case.... The practical guide to Living Wills and Durable Powers of Attorney for Health Care."
Her book was recognized by National Best Book's and ForeWard Magazine's 2007 Book of the Year awards. A presenter at the 2007 and 2008 Governor's Conferences on Aging and the 2008 Iowa State's Women and Philanthropy Conference, Cebuhar will be teaching at Drake's Ray Society and Iowa State's Senior College this fall and is currently developing workshops on Ethical Wills and Footprint Philanthropy.
Co-charis of ALF, Deb Demers and Deb Mortensen, are excited about the line-up of special programs that have been set up for the year. "The library is meant to be shared and offering programs, it is hoped, will bring more people through the doors to see for themselves what is offered," Demers said.
Also on the agenda for Sunday's meeting will be a scavenger hunt throughout the library, to familiarize everyone with what is available at the library.
