In a surprising turn of events, a second vote count appears to indicate that the results of a bond election for a multi-million-dollar Fort Dodge aquatic center has passed.
The final unofficial tally showed that the bond issue passed by a margin of 61.15 percent.
The bond issue requires a 60 percent supermajority approval.
Webster County Auditor Carol Messerly said vote totals released initially did not include absentee ballots, which apparently pushed the project over the top in the second count.
The $9 million project has many of the same features as the King's Pointe outdoor park in Storm Lake - a Lazy River channel, enclosed and open thrill slides, swirl bowl slide, child and family slide areas, spraygrounds and a separate laps pool.
