Thanks for helping save lives

To the Editor:

The following individuals registered to donate at the Aug. 21 Alta Community Blood Drive. Special recognition to Susan Krueger and Christopher Hogge, who reached 3 gallons in their donation efforts!

Iowa Hospice training to be held at Summit Church

Training opportunity is coming at the Summit Evangelical Free Church, 1000 S. Main. Men and women who would like to learn more about Hospice and have an interest in helping others are encouraged to enroll. Volunteers are needed in the northern Buena Vista County (Sioux Rapids and surrounding area.)

Training times:

* Monday, Sept. 8 - 10 a.m.-3 p.m.

* Wednesday, Sept. 10 - 1 p.m.

The training is free of charge. Registrations are appreciated.

Those completing the training will be eligible to serve as a volunteer; however, participants are under no obligation to do so. those completing all sessions will receive a certificate of completion.

The training program for Iowa Hospice volunteers is planned to provide a background of information that will help the individual to better understand how to assist a person with life limiting illnesses.

There is a variety of volunteer opportunities form patient care to office assistance. Volunteer activities are flexible and involvement can be tailored to fit each volunteer's schedule. Volunteers can choose what type of assignments, when they are able to give of their time and how often they are available.
