Over 120 participants are registered for the first "Jump Right In" and Run half-marathon/relay/5K road race to be held in Storm Lake on Sunday, August 31.
The course has been set, with the race beginning in the vicinity of Kings Pointe Resort/Sunset Golf Course at 7:30 a.m. The course, which covers the lakefront from Emerald Park to the Bel Air beach area, closes at 11:30 a.m. The only road closure will be on Sunrise Park Road between the 7:15-7:45 a.m.
Although parking will not be restricted in any residential neighborhoods during the race, it is asked that if possible, people park off the street on the route on race morning.
"We have one of the most beautiful marathon courses around, and we encourage you to cheer on runners as they pass your residence," says Grace Ivey, one of the event organizers.
For those interested in participating in the race, registration forms may be picked up or dropped off at Citizens Bank (downtown main branch) until close on Friday. Packet pickup and late registration will be held on Saturday 4-8 p.m. at Kings Pointe Resort. There will be no registration on the day of the event. You may also downloaded a registration form on line at www.stormlakerunningclub.com.
Additional information is posted on the Storm Lake Running Club website. A post race party at the Great Lawn at King's Pointe features blues singer/guitarist Erick Hovey of Fort Dodge from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. All post race activities are open to the public at no charge.
