Get out your dancing shoes and get ready to burn up the dance floor at the Alta Firemen's Appreciation Night set for Saturday, Aug. 16!
A smoked pork loin dinner will kick off the annual event with the members of the volunteer fire department cooking and serving at the Alta Community Center from 5-8 p.m.
Stay and visit with your friends after your meal to enjoy the music of "The Senders" beginning at 8 p.m.
The cost for this evening of dining and dancing is $6 per person or a free will donation at the door.
In past years the Alta Firefighters have spent many extra hours going door-to-door selling tickets in order to raise money for various department needs. With everyone's busy schedule it has become difficult to find many people at home. Instead, a letter has been sent out to everyone in the fire district.
Again this year, the building of a new fire station will be the focus on the fund-raising efforts. A lot of progress has been made in the last year towards a design. It is hoped that the residents and businesses of Alta will continue to support the project as it is a direct benefit to everyone.
Over the past year, the Alta Firemen's Association responded to 104 calls; took part in the Partners in Excellence program partnered with Mrs. Davenport's fourth grade class; and has provided support at local activities (school events, Buena Vista County Fair, Hanover Festival.)
If you are unable to attend the appreciation night and would like to support the Alta Firemen's Association, please send them to:
