There will be no Consumer Supply in Storm Lake.
The Bauer family and its Snow Ridge LLC corporation has decided not to rebuild the business, after a massive fire destroyed the plant on Richland Street last December, taking with it some 160,000 square feet of warehouse space that housed more than a dozen businesses or business storage space.
"It's had its history," said Jim Bauer, whose father built up the company years ago. "All of the businesses that were in there have relocated or gone now. We will not rebuild."
Currently, some storage units are being put up on the site, but Bauer envisions using the site to attract a new industry to the city.
"It would be an ideal location and I would see that a building was built to suit a new business," he said. "All of the dirt work and 150,000 square feet of poured concrete is already in place, so this would give us a big advantage over other cities in the region to attract a company."
