There are two great events set for Saturday, Aug. 16 at the Hanover site.
Hanover tractor ride
Tractors and drivers will be assembling at Hanover for a tractor ride with the Silver Sioux Park as the destination. The tractors will leave Hanover, southwest of Alta (corner of C65 and M27) at 8 a.m. The group will travel through southern Cherokee county, enjoy a coffee break at the park, and return to the original destination. The $15 registration fee includes the morning coffee break and noon lunch. Drivers must be 16 years of age. One rider per tractor is allowed unless a special seat is provided.

Annual threshing at Hanover
Hanover Threshing Day is set for Aug. 16 by the Hanover Historical Society. The oats which were cut and shocked earlier will be threshed at the Hanover Historical Village southwest of Alta (corner of C65 and M27) beginning at 11 a.m. and continuing until all the oats are threshed. A steam engine will power the old-time threshing machine.
Following the threshing everyone is encouraged to witness the operation of the saw mill moved to the Hanover village a year ago. The steam engine will be used to power the saw mill.
This is a great opportunity for young families to witness farm work of yesteryear and for all to reminisce about times past. Food will be available. There is no admission charge.
Tractor riders are invited to stay at Hanover for the day and enjoy the threshing and saw mill events.
