Jerry C. Estes, 66, Fort Dodge, died Wednesday, July 16, 2008 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minn. after a lengthy illness.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 22 in the chapel at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home and a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church with Rev. Lynn Bruch officiating. Burial was in Corpus Christi Cemetery.
Jerry C. Estes, son of Carl and Evelyn Estes, was born March 4, 1942 in Storm Lake. He graduated from Storm Lake High School in 1960, attended South Dakota University until entering The University of Iowa College of Law in 1963 and obtaining his bachelor of law degree in 1966.
On Oct. 7, 1967, he married Mary C. Kearney in Fort Dodge. From 1966-68 he served as law clerk for the Honorable William C. Hanson, U.S. District Court for the Northern and Southern Districts of Iowa.
From 1968-69 he practiced law with the Greer Law Firm, Spencer; 1969-79 with Kersten, Opheim, Carlson and Estes, Fort Dodge; and 1979-2005 Estes Law Offices, Fort Dodge.
Jerry will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather and for an unending passion in helping others in his practice of law. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren and had a love for the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting.
Jerry was a member of Holy Trinity Parish, Webster County Bar Association, The Association of Trial Lawyers of Iowa where he served on the Board of Governors and the Association of Trial Lawyers of America.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Mary; his children, Eric (Diane) Estes, Des Moines; Christena (Paul) Faraci, Denver, Colo.; and Joseph Estes, Des Moines; five grandchildren, Sarah, Katie and Matthew Estes, Des Moines; Nicholas and Sofia Faraci, Denver, Colo.; and a brother, Robert (Martha) Estes, Highland Ranch, Colo.
He was preceded in death by his parent, Carl and Evelyn Estes.
