'Night Out' block parties set

The Storm Lake Public Safety Department has confirmed sixteen block parties for the 2008 National Night Out Event Tuesday, August 5.

Lt. Ray Eickholt who oversees the program said, "We are very excited to have these block parties confirmed and our public safety professionals from the police, fire and EMS departments are anxious to spend time with the citizens we serve."

It is not too late to schedule additional gatherings.

The block parties that have been confirmed begin at 5:30 or 6 p.m., running until 8. The locations include:

* 100 block of Irving Street

* Mae Street between 8th and 9th Streets

* 712 Walnut Street

* Alley in the 500 block of College Street

* 609 College Street

* Park Court

* Seneca Street between 1st and 2nd Streets

* Oneida Street between 1st and 2nd Streets

* 1101 Emerald Drive

* St. Mark's Church

* 913 Angier Drive

*1300 block of Lochedem

* Geneseo Street from Lakeshore to 1st Street

* 230 Lake Avenue

* 1710 Tulip Lane

* 24 Peterson Drive
