BVU begins new alcohol education plan

Thursday, July 31, 2008

Buena Vista University is one of hundreds of institutions nationwide taking a new approach to alcohol prevention.

BVU will offer incoming freshman AlcoholEdu for College - a science-based course taken by hundreds of thousands of students each year. The course aims not to preach but rather to educate students about alcohol and its effects on the mind and body.

Whether or not they drink, AlcoholEdu for College empowers students to make well-informed decisions and better cope with the drinking behavior of peers.

The confidential, personalized experience includes five modules of alcohol-related content, personalized feedback, interactive exercises, access to a student social networking site.

BVU students were given access to begin the program July 25th and will complete the entire program by October 6th.
