After a year away, the 43 Storm Lake area soldiers serving in Kosovo are about to come home.
Iowa National Guard officials announced this week that the soldiers will return in a window from July 9 to 11.
Soldiers will be allowed to return to the unit closest to their home, so about 29 are expected to arrive at the Storm Lake armory.
A community welcome ceremony is being planned, and will be held at Storm Lake Middle School. The exact date and time will not be set until the arrival time is known for certain.
The return date has been moved up from the original window of July 11-16.
Local Guard officials say there are rumblings of an additional deployment that could involve the local unit, but nothing has yet been announced.
