The 2008 Clay County Fair will start with a bang when country music legend, Trisha Yearwood, performs on Saturday, September 6. Vocal group, Rockapella, will open the Saturday show at 7:30 p.m. The announcement was made this week.
Yearwood's career took off fast when her single "She's in Love with the Boy," rocketed to number one on Billboard's "Hot Country Songs" chart in the spring of 1991. Three more top-ten singles were fostered from the album, "Like We Never Had a Broken Heart," "That's What I Like About You," and "The Woman Before Me." Since then, 38 of Yearwood's singles have graced the country Billboard charts, nine reaching number one.
Yearwood has experienced some of the highest honors in country music. Continued release of chart-topping hits earned the country star three Grammy awards, two Country Music Association awards and two Academy of Country Music Awards. Additionally in 1999, Yearwood was inducted as a member of the Grand Ole Opry.
This year will mark the 18th anniversary since Yearwood and her now-husband, Garth Brooks, both appeared at the Clay County Fair in 1991. She will be dedicating the new Grandstand stage before her performance.
The internationally known "A cappella" group, Rockapella, will open for Yearwood with their songs of vocal collaboration. The group is known for the theme song to the television show "Where in the World is Carmen San Diego?" They have also been featured in Folgers Coffee commercials where they sang and appeared on camera. Rockapella travels worldwide performing their hit songs and covering popular pop tunes.
Tickets for the 7:30 p.m. show will be $27 reserved Grandstand seating and $22 reserved annex seating.
