'Best seat in the house' up for auction for fireworks fans

Thursday, June 19, 2008

Storm Lake Fourth of July fireworks spectators will have the opportunity to enjoy unique "seats" to see the show, as well as help raise funds for the Star Spangled Spectacular event.

Spectacular committee members have arranged to auction off six packages for groups to watch the fireworks from atop the new King's Pointe lighthouse. Bidders can vie for two lighthouse spots for five people each, and four lighthouse spots for four people each for a total of six packages.

As the lighthouse is only available to the general public (for a small fee) from 11 a.m. - 8 p.m., lighthouse seats for the Fourth of July fireworks show high above the beach area will be a special treat for fireworks spectators.

Bidders for the lighthouse seats can e-mail their bids to sssbids@gmail.com, or mail to:

The winning bids will only be granted to individuals age 18 and older. Winners can choose who will be in their fireworks spectator party. Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a family member. The lighthouse will open at 9:15 p.m. for the winning parties. No alcoholic beverages will be allowed in the lighthouse seating area.

Payment must be made to the Star Spangled Spectacular committee upon receipt of tickets to the lighthouse. Checks should be issued to the Star Spangled Spectacular. Proceeds from the auction will benefit the Star Spangled Spectacular.

The Star Spangled Spectacular is a Fourth of July celebration in Storm Lake that provides a wide variety free family entertainment from the evening of July 3 until the fireworks display at dusk on July 4 in the parks of Storm Lake. The entertainment is funded entirely through private donations.
