Patrick Schmitz, Executive Director of Plains Area Mental Health, Inc. announced that Plains Area Mental Health will provide outpatient therapy, emergency, consultation and education services to citizens of Buena Vista County in their new office at 200 West Railroad Avenue in Storm Lake.

May 13, the Buena Vista County Supervisors signed a contract with Plains Area Mental Health, Inc. to provide block grant funded mental health services beginning July 1, 2008.

"We are excited about this location and will provide high quality services to the citizens of Buena Vista County"., Schmitz said.

Plains Area Mental Health Center is a non-profit community mental health center and has been providing services in northwest Iowa for over 35 years. It operates under the direction of a volunteer Board of Directors with membership from each county it serves. The major source of revenue comes from fees for services; however funding is also received from the contracted counties of Plymouth, Cherokee, Ida and now Buena Vista, along with state and federal governments and donations. The main office is located in Le Mars, with satellite offices in Cherokee, Ida Grove, Orange City, and Storm Lake.

Charges vary depending upon service. PAMHC is an approved provider by Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Iowa, Medicare, Medicaid, EAP's and other insurance companies. Applications can also be made for reduced fees or special payment plans. We will make every effort to ensure that persons receive needed services.
