$10,000 Concordia donation helps to remember Pederson, a school founder

Thursday, May 29, 2008

Concordia Lutheran School has many friends who help the educational facility to thrive.

Glennys Pederson generously donated an endowment gift of $10,000 to the school in memory of her husband (M.R.) Pete, who served on the 2000 planning committee to organize the school and as a representative on the school board. He also helped in naming the school.

The money will be used for scholarships for families who desire a Christian education for their children. "This gift is a gift to us from the Lord for our school," Glennys said.

Pete died April 22, 2007. The donation was made to the school on May 22.

The school has always been very dear to the Pedersons - and will continue to be.

Many people came together to more than double the $10,000 donation - Pastor Bruce Lesemann donated $1,000 and church members donated an additional $11,000. The endowment now stands at $23,000 and will benefit many children.

"We are very fortunate at Concordia Lutheran School to have such strong donor support," said Sherrie Grieme, on-site administrator of the school.

Approximately 60 percent of the funding comes from pledges and contributions such as this.

"I would like to personally thank Glennys for continuing to support our school and for challenging others to do the same. This endowment will be especially set aside for scholarship needs," Grieme said.

In addition to the $10,000 gift, Glennys donated $2,000 to the school at Christmas time.
