The Alta Promotional Committee unveiled a new logo Wednesday that captures the essence of the connection between the school district and the community at a special ceremony that involved students and community members.
"Catch the Energy" says it best. The logo captures the wind farm - such energy - which is a very vivid part of the community. That energy is also seen in the people of the community, says committee member Gretchen Miller.
"There is a lot of energy in this community," she said.
Alta is strong inpart due to the volunteers that come together to help make the community a better place to live and grow. The construction of the community center, the baseball complex, the playground, the bathhouse are all fine examples of how the community has come together to share that energy.
The Alta Promotional Committee was organized a year ago to promote the strengths of the school district and the City of Alta. Making up the committee have been members of the community, school district and city government. They spent countless hours working on the promotion.
Buena Vista University student Chantelle Hogrefe joined the group tand served an internship working with the group as they strived for their goals of designing a new brochure and signage. She spent many hours, along with the committee members meeting and discussing ideas.
An entire class from BVU also became involved in the brochure-designing process. Each designed a brochure and the committee selected ideas from the some 10 brochures and designed their own.
The brochure shares information about the schools, places of worship, industry, residential development, amenities and municipalities.
"We have a great community, athletics and our school. Alta is a great place to live," is a quote from Isabel Hinkeldey, fourth grade, which is placed in the brochure.
Signs with the new logo and the Alta Cyclone logo have been designed by Holton Signs. Within the next few days look for the signs North of Alta on M31 and Highway 3 and south of Alta on M 31.
Superintendent Fred Maharry commented about the excellent teachers and staff with the district and "the wonderful support from the community."
"We are large enough to support a variety of class offerings and we are small enough to provide a personal and caring atmosphere."
It is hoped this promotion will entice new people to move to the community to be a part of the energy.
Mayor Tom French commented, "Together is better. Working together is so great. If we can promote our school district it will add value to our city and state."
The students released biodegradable balloons following the unveiling ceremony, each carrying the new logo.
