The Buena Vista County Board of Supervisors met with the Seasons Center Executive Board Friday, prior to making the decision to part ways with the agency in favor of a new provider of mental health services
The County earlier gave their 60 day notice to terminate their contract with Seasons, and under provisions were required to meet with the Seasons Board to see if a resolution would be possible.
County officials told Seasons they were looking for better accountability and service that was more cost effective.
"We've got to be able to follow the money, up until this day that has not been available," Dale Arends, BV County Board chair told the Seasons Board. "We are still here to serve our public. The Seasons board said they they were confident their new administrator, Carrie Baker who started in mid-February would work on providing the information to the County that the State of Iowa requires for reimbursement.
"She (Baker) is more information-based than our old director was," said Lance Ellis with the Seasons board. "The information will be collected and provided. Give Carrie a chance to deliver. If it doesn't happen, let us know, we'll force it to happen," added Jake Moermond with the Seasons board.
Spencer Hospital informed the County that by pulling out from Seasons, they will no longer provide hospitalization for BV County mental needs inpatients, and the county must look elsewhere.
