Dorothy L. Ploeger

July 31, 1941 - April 27, 2008

Dorothy L. Ploeger, 66, Storm Lake, died Sunday, April 27, 2008 at Loring Hospital in Sac City, after a year-long battle with cancer.

Funeral services for Mrs. Ploeger will be held today, Thursday, May 1, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Storm Lake. Burial will be at E&R Church Cemetery in rural Schaller. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home will in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements. Dorothy Louise Hogrefe was born July 31, 1941 to Herman, Jr. and Louise Hogrefe in Holstein. Dorothy's childhood was spent in the Cushing and Holstein area. She graduated from Cushing High School in 1959; she then attended nursing training in Sioux City at St. Vincent's. Dorothy then worked in Cherokee until she married Lorence G. Ploeger of Galva on Oct. 6, 1962. They were blessed with three children: Marie Louise, Patricia Kay and James Allen. Dorothy also worked as a nurse for Buena Vista County Hospital in Storm Lake. She retired in 1983.

She leaves her husband, Lorence of Storm Lake; two daughters: Marie Bruns and husband, Dale, Galva; Patricia Wilhelm and husband, David, Schaller; five grandchildren: Jennifer Marie Bruns and special friend, Denis Matheis, Aurelia, Iowa; Jonathon Dale Bruns and special friend, Elissa Jordt, Galva; James Henry Bruns and special friend, Jessica Johnson, Ankeny; and Elizabeth Lynn Wilhelm and Wyatt William, Schaller; her parents, Herman and Louise Hogrefe Jr. , Holstein; brother- and sister-in-law Lorn and Elaine Johannsen, Paullina; extended family and friends.

Dorothy was preceded in death by a son, James Allen Ploeger; and her father- and mother-in-law, Clarence and Zoa Ploeger.

Vivian Berg

Vivian Berg, 87, Albert City, died Sunday, April 27, 2008 at the Newell Good Samaritan Center in Newell, Iowa.

Funeral services for Mrs. Berg are scheduled for today, Thursday, May 1, at 2:30 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Marathon. Inurnment will be at a later date in Fairfield Township Cemetery at Albert City.

Visitation will be held at the church for one hour prior to the start of services. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.

Richard Rudolph

Richard H. Rudolph, 82, Storm Lake, died Saturday, April 26, 2008 at Buena Vista Manor Care Center in Storm Lake.

Memorial services for Mr. Rudolph will be held Saturday, May 3, at 11 a.m. at Sliefert Funeral Home in Storm Lake. The family will be present at 10:30 to greet friends prior to the start of the service. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.

Marvel Olsen

Marvel Olsen, 77, Newell, died Monday, April 28, 2008 in Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake.

Services for Mr. Olsen will be held today, Thursday, May 1, at 1 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church in Newell. Burial will be in Newell Cemetery with full military rites by the Newell VFW. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Newell is in charge of the arrangements.
