Schools lock down for drug bust in SL

Thursday, May 1, 2008

South School, the Alternative High School, and St. Mary's School were locked down briefly Monday afternoon as a precaution during a drug investigation search at a residence just north of the three schools.

At around noon Monday, the Storm Lake Police Entry Team executed a search warrant at 401 Cayuga Street #B7 in connection with a drug related investigation.

Police located and seized separately packaged quantities of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and several hundred dollars in cash.

Officers arrested Jesse Marshall, age 26, Storm Lake, for Possession of Marijuana With Intent to Deliver (a felony) and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (simple misdemeanor). He was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a $5,300 cash bond.

Police further arrested Latceanner Mack, age 21 of Storm Lake and charged her with Possession of Marijuana With Intent to Deliver (a felony). She was booked into the county jail on a $5,000 cash bond.

The schools were on lock-down status for only about five minutes, with no incident.

The Storm Lake Fire Department responded to the scene of the search warrant following its execution to ventilate smoke from a distraction device used by the Entry Team and reset a fire alarm which was activated by the smoke.

There were no injuries.
