Evelyn Schmitz

June 27, 1924 - April 25, 2008

Evelyn June Schmitz, 83, of Primghar, formerly of Storm Lake, died Friday, April 25, 2008, at Prairie View Retirement Home in Sanborn. Her services will be today, Tuesday, April 29, at 1 p.m. at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Primghar with Father Tim Hogan officiating.

Graveside services will be at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday in St. Martin Catholic Cemetery, Odebolt.

Evelyn June Schmitz was born June 27, 1924 in Lake View, the daughter of George and Rosetta (Wunschel) Mauer. She graduated from Wall Lake High School in 1942. While working in Sioux City in support of the war effort, she met Paul A. Schmitz who was on leave from the U.S. Navy. They were married March 9, 1943 in Dakota City, Nebraska. Evelyn and Paul lived in Storm Lake for most of their married lives. Following Paul's death in 1982, Evelyn moved to Alta and for the last two years resided in Primghar. She passed away at the Prairie View Retirement Home in Sanborn

Left to cherish her memory are three daughters, Sheryl and her husband, Scott Heppner of Primghar; Becky and her husband, Leighton Jessen of Alta; and Paula Schau of Ida Grove; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Vickie Schmitz of Cedar Falls and Tom and Sandi Schmitz of Bluffton, S.C.; 16 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, a brother and sister-in-law, Virgil and Doris Mauer of Cedar Falls; two nephews and their wives, Vincent and Kimberly Mauer of Cincinnati, Ohio and Steven and Julie Mauer of Kansas City, Mo.; also numerous cousins and other relatives and friends.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, a grandson, two great-grandsons and a son-in-law.

LuVerne Danielson

May 8, 1911 - April 23, 2008

LuVerne M. Danielson, 96, Albert City, died Wednesday, April 23, 2008 at Pleasant View Home in Albert City.

Services for Mrs. Danielson will be held today, Tuesday, April 29, at 10:30 a.m. at Evangelical Covenant Church in Albert City, with Pastor Gavin Ellis officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery at Albert City. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Albert City is in charge of the arrangements.

LuVerne May Hammer was born May 8, 1911 in rural Pocahontas, the daughter of Lewis and Mary (Westmoreland) Hammer. She was baptized in 1914 at Varina. LuVerne received her education in the Varina school, graduating from Varina High School with the Class of 1930.

On Feb. 26, 1932, LuVerne was united in marriage to Vernon W. Danielson in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The couple was blessed with three children: Nancy, Donald and Lloyd.

LuVerne enjoyed the company of many people and she had many interests. She loved her Lord and was an active, faithful member of the Evangelical Covenant Church in Albert City, where she sang in the choir and was a member of the Covenant Women. She belonged to Happy Hour Club, Community Club and Senior Citizens, all in Albert City. She enjoyed being outdoors, where she could often be found working in her flower or vegetable gardens or keeping her lawn mown and tidy. LuVerne enjoyed a good game of 500 and was always ready to go traveling. She loved music and was an accomplished pianist and violinist. Family and friends were always welcome in LuVerne's home, where she enjoyed cooking for anyone who needed feeding. Her family was her treasure and she loved them all dearly. Her kind and caring ways will be deeply missed by all those who knew her.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Nancy Nunn of Marquette, Neb.; son Lloyd (Diane) Danielson of Albert City; grandchildren: Jean (Mark) Krom of Moreno Valley, Calif.; Don (Beth) Meyer of Grand Island, Neb.; Jim Meyer of Cheney, Kan.; Steven Nunn of Marquette, Neb.; David (Merci) Danielson of Midland, Mich.; Cynthia (Ray) Crompton of Greensboro, N.C.; and Carmen (John) Micklus of Chicago, Ill.; great-grandchildren: Stephanie Krom; Josh and Kaylee Meyer; Nicole, Spencer, Kendra and Jaden Nunn; Noah, Elia, Joshua and Grace Danielson; and Max, Sam and Sophia Crompton; brothers: Lewis (Jeri) Hammer and Herbert Hammer, both of Pocahontas; sisters: Mary Lou (Norman) Johnson of Pocahontas and Laurabelle McConnell of Riverside, Calif.; nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends.
