SL music students to take part in state music festival

Tuesday, April 29, 2008

On Friday, May 2, the Storm Lake High School Music Department will travel to LeMars High School and Middle School for the annual State Large Group Music Festival. This is one of the numerous sites that host the culminating activity of high school music departments for their concert bands, orchestras, and choirs. This Iowa High School Music Association contest is adjudicated by three judges that rate each ensemble's performance on a scale of a Division I to a Division V, with a Division I being a superior performance. Musical quality is critiqued with no comparison to other school ensembles.

The concert ensembles from Storm Lake and their scheduled performance times on Friday night are:

String Orchestra - 5:24 pm

Concert Band - 6:12 pm

Treble Clef Chorus - 7:16 pm

Bass Clef Chorus - 7:44 pm

Mixed Chorus 1 - 8:40 pm

Mixed Chorus 2 - 9:22 pm

This festival is open to the public with the admission fee of $3 for adults and $1 for students.
