The Storm Lake boys tennis team slammed Estherville Lincoln Central 9-0 on ELC's home court Monday, then spanked LeMars 8-1 Tuesday, padding the Tornadoes' record for the weather-hampered spring to 3-1.
"After a two-week stretch without a meet, it was great to play again," SLHS Coach Ron Netten said. "The guys came on strong after some pretty even match starts. This should give us some momentum heading into the last three weeks of the season."
Storm Lake singles winners at Estherville were Jesse Munger, 10-4; Erick Stephas 10-4; Taylor Anderson, 10-3; Jeremy Boese, 10-6; Will Hansen, 10-0; and Cory Nelsen 10-4. Storm Lake then swept doubles matches 10-5, 10-5 and 10-0.
At LeMars, Stephas, Anderson, Hansen and Nelsen won again, and Boese prevailed in a tight 11-10 battle with Tyler Petty to give SLHS momentum headed into three doubles wins.
The Storm Lake JV won 9-0 over ELC. Singles winners included Andy Storm, Keaton Murphy, Vista Sauvandy, Jesse Kavan, Rich Khamsink, Jacob Lyon, Carson Anderson and Nolan Cone. The JV lost 8-1 at LeMars, winning only Anderson and Curtis Durr's doubles match. The JV is now 2-2.
