The Western Iowa Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) is the recipient of $3,250 from Thrivent Financial for Lutherans' Care in Regions program. Funds will be used to support activities of the Western Iowa Synod, including workshops and seminars for area congregations as well as outreach services.
The Western Iowa Synod, in partnership with the churchwide organization, bears primary responsibility for the oversight of the life and mission of the ELCA in the western one-third of Iowa. It is one of 65 synods in nine geographic regions of this church. Approximately 68,000 baptized members gather for worship and Christian service in 165 congregations in the Western Iowa Synod.
