Alta's Nesbitt a blue-chip recruit for Augustana

Multi-sport standout Cody Nesbitt of Alta has signed a letter of intent to play football with Augustana College in Sioux Falls, S.D., the school announced Monday.

The 6-foot-1, 183-pound wide receiver/defensive back was a three year starter for Alta, where was a two-time All-District honoree as a running back and helped the Cyclones to back-to-back Class A playoff appearances and a District title.

He piled up pver 2,400 career yards rushing and 750 yards receiving for Alta. In his senior campaign, he rushed for 1,154 yards and hauled in catches for 439 yards. With 22 touchdowns, he led the district in scoring. He was also honored as a Des Moines Register All-State second-teamer as a defensive back.

Nesbitt has also been an all-conference second team honoree in baseball as a junior, and as a senior ran a leg on the state championship 4x200 relay team in track. He was also recognized as one of the better guards in the region on Alta's successful basketball teams.

He is one of 27 new recruits for the Vikings, who finished 4-7 last year.
