Sioux Central FFA'ers compete in district; advance to state

Members of the Sioux Central FFA chapter attended the Northwest Iowa District FFA Convention recently at the West Lyon High School in Inwood. Three group contests and three individual contests participated in CDE's (Career Development Events) with two group contests advancing to State Convention in April. Members of the Conduct team receiving a gold medal at districts and advancing to state include Jeremy Lansink, Kate Sennert, Brittany Keith, Jamie Madsen, Kearsten Brown, and Susan Krummen. Members of the Ag Issues who also received a gold medal and is advancing to state includes Lindsey Kestner, David Hermstad, Cody Archer, Chris Sievers, Ross Woodford and Katie Christensen. Maggie Patterson participated in the Creed Speaking where she received a silver medal. Daniel Christensen received a silver medal while taking part in Ag Sales. The Experience the Action team made up of Justin Waddell, Mitch Sievers, Austin Ehlers, and Sheena Birdsall also received a silver medal. The reporter's scrapbook team made up of Samantha Madsen, Samantha Hall, and Bailey Herrig received a silver medal for the design of the 2007 scrapbook. The Treasurer's book made by Chris Sievers and Secretary's book made by Kate Sennert both received a Bronze medal for their officer's books. Trevor Pritchard also received a bronze medal for his Extemporaneous Speaking event. Samantha Madsen and Bailey Herrig also took part in being Sioux Central's chapter delegates. They represented the chapter at the District Delegate meeting and voted on new district officers and changes in the FFA Amendment. In April, the Sioux Central will be sending over 32 of its members to participate in CDE's at the State Level. Those that make it past the state level will then go onto nationals where they would have a chance to compete with FFA members from all 50 states.
