Many big winners, SM Ball raised $72k

Storm Lake St. Mary's Ball and Charity Auction raised an estimated $72,268 for St. Mary's preK-12 privately-funded school. Over 300 supporters attended the March 15 "Evening in Tuscany" event at Buena Vista University. Mel and Cindy Pudenz chaired the event with John and Edean Murray co-chairing.

$11,200 was raised from 36 donors in a special plea to earmark funds for technology for the school including laptop computers, tablets and projectors.

Mike and Becky Smith of rural Storm Lake won the $10,000 Big Raffle prize from purchasing a $100 raffle ticket in September 2007. Bernie Bellcock won the $2,000 Early Bird prize from purchasing before December 31, 2007. The $1,000 winners were Willie Lang and Bill O'Meara. The $500 winners were Francis and Rosie Koch and Mike and Linda Diercks. Mike Pertzborn and Bob Lenhart chaired the Big Raffle ticket sales.

Deb Lenhart of Storm Lake won the $2,000 diamond earrings from Paxton's Jewelry. Peg Flynn won the $200 from the Paxtons' Chest of Chance and Steve and Therese Becker won the $100 prize.

Al White and Rose Reiling each won $200 from Malarky's for purchasing tickets to the Fratzke and Jensen Private Wine Cellar pre-party.

Randy and Deb Drey won the California Wine Country trip.

A trip to Walt Disney World in Florida with Southwest Airline tickets, park passes and a debit card sold for $1,400. Donors also pitched in $1,300 for Sr. Donna Determan to attend a Notre Dame football game. Fifty gallons of WeatherMAX herbicide sold for $1,700.
