Colin Smith brings inspiring 'Unlocking the Bible' seminar to Summit Church

Thursday, March 6, 2008

Ever wish you had a better understanding of the Bible? Have you thought it was simply a collection of stories about God? Would you like to know how the Bible unfolds one seamless and astonishing story about Jesus Christ that was written by God Himself - so that you could know Him more personally?

Come hear popular pastor Colin Smith answer these questions and more with clarity and conviction (in an irresistible Scottish accent) at his region-wide "Unlocking the Bible" seminar on Friday-Saturday, March 7-8, at Summit Church in Alta.

"Over the past four years, hundreds of Summit attenders have learned life-changing truths from the Bible as we've used Colin's books in our small group Bible studies and linked them in our ongoing sermon series," says Doug Corlew, Summit's senior pastor. "Colin's clear teaching and inspiring communication style makes the Bible come alive in a powerful way."

The "Unlocking The Bible" seminar begins at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The seminar continues on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to noon. There is no charge for the seminar, but a free-will offering will be received both days, and a book table will be available. Contact office@summitefc.com or call 712-200-2200 to RSVP for the dinner &or seminar.

Through his "UnlockingTheBible.org" teaching ministry, Smith has also become a popular radio Bible teacher and author of several books, including the 4-volume Unlocking the Bible Story series, 10 Keys for Unlocking the Bible, Unlock the Bible in 30 Days, 10 Keys to Unlock the Christian Life, The 10 Greatest Struggles of Your Life," all published by Moody Press.

A native of Edinburgh, Scotland, Smith has pastored Arlington Heights Evangelical Free Church in the Chicago area since 1996. Previously, he enjoyed 16 years of pastoral ministry in England, including as president of the UK's Fellowship of Independent Evangelical Churches. Colin and his wife Karen (who will accompany him to Alta) reside in Arlington Heights, Illinois, and they have two sons in college.

Summit is located at 1000 South Main Street in Alta 51002. For more information see www.summitefc.com or call the church at 200-2200.
