Student's work to be on display at Des Moines Historical Building through the month

Thursday, February 28, 2008

Art work by Alta first grade student Aric Stephan, son of Randy and Rachel Stephan, has been selected for the 2008 Youth Art Month Exhibit on display during March at the Des Moines Historical Building.

Aric's chalk goblin piece is among approximately 100 pieces of student artwork chosen from across the state of Iowa for this annual event.

A special Youth Art Month celebration will be held on Saturday, March 1, during which time students will be recognized and awarded YAM certificates.

Because March has been officially designated as YAM by the Governor of Iowa, the exhibit is an event held in recognition of the importance of art in Iowa schools, as well as the quality of the state's art programs. As a result, new art programs have been added where there were none and existing programs have been expanded.

Aric's teacher is Cherie Courter. Congratulations to Aric on this outstanding achievement!
