SLHS girls close Lakes Conference slate 5-11

Thursday, February 7, 2008

Storm Lake's offense produced just 10 points over the middle two periods of a 64-40 girls basketball loss to Spirit Lake Tuesday night.

It was the final conference game for the Tornadoes, as they fell to 7-13 on the season and closed Lakes Conference shop 5-11, an improvement by four league wins from last season.

"We didn't have intensity four solid quarters tonight. Our first quarter was encouraging - we played good team ball," said Tornadoes coach Stacey VanDerSloot. "Our second and third quarter we didn't have an offense. Scoring only six and four points won't keep you in the game."

Slone Masters led Storm Lake with 13 points, six rebounds and three steals, while Amanda Proczak also had 13 points to go with four steals.

Maleia Miller added two assists and Nya Deng four boards.

CHEROKEE - A lack of intensity.

"Our free throws (11-for-30) were just as cold."

Cassie Meylor led Storm Lake with 19 points on 9-of-16 shooting. She had a double-double with 11 rebounds.
