The Sanford Museum in Cherokee will be offering Black History Month Celebration events.
On February 16, the main celebration will be held at Washington High School auditorium, starting at 7 p.m.
Local middle school children will be singing African American spirituals. The winners of a Cherokee County Black History essay contest will be reading their work.
The event is partially funded by the Sioux City branch of the NAACP.
A special art exhibit for Black History Month is planned in the museum in downtown Cherokee as well.

*April 5 - Jane Ann Fee Cox - A Pioneer Woman in the promised Land (2:00 p.m.)The public is invited to a one-woman play about this pioneer family.
