CARF, the international accrediting body for rehabilitation facilities, has announced that Genesis Development has received a Three-Year Accreditation award for its Work Services, Employment Services, Group Living, Supported Community Living and Adult Day Activity programs. The first year that Genesis was surveyed by CARF was in 1983. Since that time, Genesis has received nine consecutive Three-Year Accreditation outcomes.
This award represents the highest level of accreditation that can be awarded to a rehabilitation facility and shows the organization's substantial conformance to the standards established by CARF. An organization receiving a Three-Year Accreditation outcome has put itself through a rigorous review process and has demonstrated to a team of surveyors that its programs and services are of the highest quality.
Five peer surveyors from Montana, California, Indiana, Illinois and Missouri visited all Genesis sites in November to review business practices, policies, accessibility, safety procedures, governance, quality of services provided, medication monitoring, community integration, housing and all residential and vocational programs among other things. They conducted interviews with individuals receiving services, case managers, family members and staff and toured many of the facilities and production areas all in an effort to determine the caliber and quality of services provided by Genesis Development. The Three-Year award was the result of that review.
In appreciation of the dedication, teamwork and consistent quality care provided by Genesis staff, the Genesis Board of Directors presented denim shirts with an embroidered Genesis logo to each of the more than 240 staff members. "Genesis staff should all be very proud of what Genesis has accomplished," commented a Board spokesperson. "Not just for the survey, but every day that they enable the people that we serve to realize our mission - to live and work as they choose because of the opportunities and support provided by the staff of Genesis. Our folks are why we are here."
