Toreadors top Tornadoes in swimming dual

The Storm Lake boys swim team raced to 13 personal bests and racked up five second-place finishes while dropping a 124-43 decision to the Boone Toreadors here Tuesday.

Earning second place for the Tornadoes were Peter Winterton in the 200 individual medley (personal best 2:31.70), Collin Schultz in the 50 freestyle (personal best 25.07), Casey Schultz in the 100 butterfly (1:11.83), Nate Tucker in the 100 freestyle (personal best 57.28) and Mike Rodgers in the 500 freestyle (personal best 7:28.11).

Other Tornadoes swimming to personal bests on the varsity were Rodgers in the 200 freestyle (fourth place, 2:38.37), Jace Piercy in the 200 freestyle (fifth place, 2:39.65), Miguel Negrete in the 50 freestyle (fifth place, 28.71), David Brady in the 100 butterfly (fourth place, 1:14.26), Piercy in the 100 butterfly (fifth place, 1:38.11), Collin Schultz in the 100 freestyle (fifth place, 1:05.06), Negrete in the 100 freestyle (sixth place, 1:10.11), Brady in the 100 backstroke (fourth place, 1:14.40) and Rodgers in the 100 breaststroke (fifth place, 1:24.52).

Boone also claimed the JV meet, 67-6.
