Ninth-ranked Simpson presents tough road test for BVU tomorrow

Jocelyn Kock hit a 3-point shot with 45 seconds remaining to break a 63-63 tie, Courtney Stoelk followed up with two late free throws, and the two Ar-We-Va standouts combined for 20 points as Buena Vista's women beat Cornell College 70-63 Saturday in Storm Lake.
The win moved the Beavers to 9-7 on the season and 3-4 in the Iowa Conference, while the loss dropped Cornell to 6-8 overall and 1-5 in league play.
BVU was led by four different Beavers in double figures.
Leading the charge was Margo Muhlbauer with 17 points, followed by Jenn Schumann with 15.
Kock added 13 and Aubrey Hauswirth 10.
The Beavers shot 43 percent from the field while also shooting 75 percent from the charity stripe.
The Rams were held to just 35 percent shooting from the field, but stayed in the game with some timely 3-pointers and defensive stops.
Cornell was led by four players as well in double figures.
Leading the Rams was Tiffany Cowan, who had 18 points, while making 4-of-8 from behind the arc and going 4-of-4 from the free throw line.
Alicia West added 11 points for the Rams, while Charlotte Milas and Melanie Duplessis each chipped in with 10.
BVU will look to win another conference game when the team travels to Indianola this Wednesday to face league leader and D-III No. 9-ranked Simpson College (15-1, 7-0 IIAC).
Game time is set for 6 p.m. in Indianola.
