Hinkeldey, Hansen lead the way for Cyclones

Alta's starting bigs combined for 31 points and the Class 1A top-ranked Cyclones stayed unbeaten Saturday, knocking off non-conference foe Cherokee, 59-48, on the road.

Aaron Hansen scored 16 points and Jordan Hinkeldey added 15. Both snared six rebounds, with Hinkeldey pulling down a team-best five offensive backboards.

They were part of a balanced Cyclone glass attack that also saw Scott Radke grab six boards, Quentin Thomas and Mike Huseman five apiece, and Cody Nesbitt and Austin Stille four each.

Huseman and Chris Schmitz dropped off five and four assists, respectively.

Huseman and Nesbitt both had four steals.

The Cyclones cashed in 18-of-29 free throw attempts but were just 1-of-12 from downtown, with Hansen hitting the lone 3-pointer.

Alta (13-0, 11-0 Northwest Conference) entertains Pomeroy-Palmer tonight. The Knights gave Alta a mild scare when the teams met earlier this season in Pomeroy.
