SIOUX RAPIDS-- The Sioux Central girls defeated Storm Lake Saint Mary's 55-23 on Friday
The Rebels slowly increased their lead each quarter en route to the victory. They outscored the Panthers 16-7 in the first period, and 19-6 in the second to bring the first half total to 35-13. They had a 14-2 advantage in the third and went comfortably into the final quarter 49-15. They cooled off in the fourth, as the Panthers outscored them 8-6 for the final of 55-23.
Sioux Central saw sophomore standout Brooke Scharn record a double-double, pouring in 14 points and grabbing 11 boards, and also adding six steals. Grace Rehnstrom had 16 points for the Rebels, with Steph Thompson adding seven points, Michele Ferguson with six, Brittny Rebhuhn and Brianna Ehlers each had four, and Kate Sennert and Jessica Romo both added two.
The Rebels better their record to 9-3 in the conference, while St. Mary's falls to 0-11. The Rebels look to play Laurens-Marathon at home on Tuesday. The Panthers will play Aurelia at home Tuesday night.
