HULL - The Storm Lake Tornado girls couldn't get enough shots to fall as they lost to Hull-Western Christian 40-31 Friday night.
They hit a late shot in the first quarter to take a 9-8 lead heading into the second stanza, only to fall behind 18-13 at halftime. They did, however claw back to drain the defecit to one at the end of the third quarter, 23-24.
The fourth quarter showed a lot of scoring, but the Tornadoes just couldn't hit enough shots.
"We had an off night shooting tonight. None of our shots would fall," commented Storm Lake coach Stacey VanderSloot. "We did play well defensively though, holding them to 40 points and their leading scorer to eight, who had 17 on us in our last matchup."
Sloan Masters led the green and white with nine points with Cassie Meylor and Maleia Miller both adding six. Also for Storm Lake, Amy Kessler and Amanda Proczack both had four, and Courtney Lovetinsky added two.
Storm Lake falls to 5-9 overall, and 5-7 in the conference. They will play in Sheldon on Tuesday.
