Knights work past St. Mary's boys

Ryan Drey scored 21 points and knocked down 5-of-8 shots from downtown, but Storm Lake St. Mary's dropped a 52-46 Northwest Conference road decision to Pomeroy-Palmer Tuesday.

The Panthers fell to 2-14 on the year and 0-10 in the conference.

"We came out and grabbed a first-quarter lead but put P-P on the free throw line in the second quarter, and were down eight at halftime," Panthers coach Brad Wilkening said. "We started the fourth quarter down nine, but fought our way back within two with less than a minute left, but never got the lead.

"We were outscored on the free throw line, 17-3."

Connor Richardson added a solid all-around floor game of 10 points, six rebounds and five steals for St. Mary's.

Jon Foell notched seven points, six rebounds and six steals; Paul Yak booked six boards and Michael Ivey four steals.
