SL sinks S.C. East for third time

Chalk up a third win for Storm Lake's boys swim team - with each one coming against Sioux City East.

The Tornadoes whipped the Black Raiders 92-53 here Tuesday, getting five first-place efforts.

Storm Lake's 200 medley relay, consisting of David Brady, Casey Schultz, Peter Winterton and Nate Tucker, charged to first place in 2:05.79.

In the 200 freestyle, Mike Rodgers was first in a season-best 2:34.70; in the 50 freestyle, Tucker took first in a personal best 25.25.

In the 100 butterfly Brady earned gold in 1:16.38.

And in the 100 freestyle, Winterton took first in 58.44.

Miguel Negrete, Kurt Kohl, Matt Zylstra and Collin Schultz took second in the 200 medley in 2:27.10.

Winterton was second in the 50 freestyle with a time of 25.75, as was Zylstra in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:30.17.

Storm Lake added two more second place finishes: Tucker in the 100 freestyle (1:00.13) and Jace Piercy in the 500 freestyle (7:38.66).

In the 200 medley relay Raymundo Villareal, Piercy, Dominic Khaleck and Cameron Cutler took third in 2:42.27.

Peter Douglas swam to third in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:49.82.

Collin Schultz was third in both the 50 freestyle (29.07) and the 100 freestyle (1:12.12).

The Tornadoes travel to Boone next Tuesday.
