Storm Lake's boys swim team held its senior night festivities Monday night at Finkbine Pool on the BVU campus as the team held its lone home meet of the year.
The Tornadoes fell to Sioux City Metro, 68-26, and also lost to Spencer, 72-21.
Spencer beat Metro 51-43 in the other dual, while Spencer topped Storm Lake 21-12 in the lone JV dual.
Despite the overall outcome, Storm Lake coach Roger Peterson said his team continues to improve.
"The referee says, 'your kids have improved a lot.' Someone commented, 'At first when I saw them, I could see their strokes. Now it's hard to see their strokes because they're moving a lot faster,' " Peterson said of the positive feedback he heard about his team.
Against Metro, Storm Lake's 200 medley team of Casey Schultz, David Brady, Peter Winterton, and Nate Tucker swam their fastest time of the year to get second place in 2:04.50.
Winterton was second in the 50 free in 25.04, his best time. Tucker took fourth in that same race in 25.75.
In the 100 fly, Casey Schultz was second in 1:10.98.
In the 200 freestyle relay, Casey schultz, Nate Tucker, Winterton, and Brady got second in 1:44.24, their best time.
Brady took seccond in the 100 backstroke in 1:19.11; Mike Rodgers was second in the 100 breast in 1:21.30.
Against Spencer, meanwhile, Winterton was second in the 100 free in 58.59. Tucker was third in 58.89.
Jace Piercy earned second in the 500 freestyle in 7:36.41, while Brady got second in the 100 backstroke in 1:19.11.
Mike Rodgers added a second place finish in the 100 breaststroke in 1:21.30.
