Cyclone JV team claims 49-31 win over Panthers

The Alta Cyclone JV boys basketball team took on Storm Lake St. Mary's in their final game before Christmas break and defeated the Panthers by a final score of 49-31.  Cameron Manteufel saw his first game action of the season and led Alta's scoring attack with 12 points followed by Jon Lietz with 9, Robert Maharry and Jeremy Lambert with 8 each, Josiah DeRoos with 6, Ryan Friedrich 4 and Chris Bengston 2.  The Clones were led in rebounding by Maharry with 7, DeRoos 6, Lambert 4, Friedrich 3, Jared Buckendahl, Lietz and Bengston all with 2.  Bengston topped in assists with 3.  "We played a solid game by not committing alot of turnovers and getting some transition baskets."  said Coach Lietz , "It's nice to get a win going into break."

JV boys capture 49-35 win over P-P Knights

The Alta JV boys basketball team traveled to Pomeroy to take on the Knights and came home with a hard fought 49-35 victory.  Seven Cyclones hit the scoring column led by DeRoos with 15, followed by Lambert with 12, Friedrich 8, Maharry 5, Manteufel 4, Lietz 3 and Bengston 2.  Lambert and DeRoos topped the rebounding charts with 8 each, Friedrich and Maharry followed with 3 apiece.  Lambert had 3 assists and Bengston 2.  Lambert ,Maharry and Friedrich all had 3 steals.  "We started very well only to have a tough Knight team battle back and play us even for 3 quarters.  We made shots in the fourth quarter and got the lead and played from there."  said Coach Lietz.  "This was nice road win against a well coached team and a great way to start after break."  The win moves Alta's season mark to 4-2.
