The Buena Vista men's basketball team picked up its 10th win of the season, while improving to 4-0 in the Iowa Conference with an 87-66 win over Wartburg College (4-9, 1-3 IIAC) at Siebens Fieldhouse Wednesday night. The Beavers (10-3, 4-0) trailed only once in the first minute of the game, then used a 16-0 run to blow the game open.
BVU was led by five different players in double figures. Andre Wagner led the Beavers in scoring with 15 points. Eric Holton added 12, while Kyle Stribe chipped in with 11. Jeff Bissen and Matt Cleveland rounded out the scoring attack with 10 points each.
The Knights struggled shooting the ball (38 percent), but were led by standout freshman Mitch Eslick's 19 points. Brad Schmidt and Lee Nelson chipped in with 11 and 12 points, respectively.
Buena Vista out-rebounded the Knights 46-35 while also forcing them into 19 turnovers. Cleveland grabbed nine rebounds, while Adam Arndorfer hauled in seven.
The Beavers will look to remain unbeaten in conference play as they host Central College this Saturday at 4 p.m. The women tip off before them at 2 p.m.
