City, school, PTO, BV County funds new playground fence

The Alta Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting for the new fence that was recently put in place at the Alta Elementary/playground. The project was instigated by the Parent Teacher Organization, who wanted to see the children safely enclosed during recess. Members of the newly formed group met with the Alta City Council and the Alta School Board, both entities contributed funds for the project.

PTO held a couple of fundraisers to raise dollars for the fence as well.

PTO members thanked Steve Tjaden for helping write a grant which landed them funds from the Buena Vista County Foundation.

The fence surrounds the playground to prevent children from slipping out of the teacher's eye during recess time or from letting people in during school hours that shouldn't be there.
