Five players scored 12 or more points for Buena Vista - and the Beavers shot 56.1 percent from the field - in a commanding 97-79 non-conference victory over visiting Wisconsin-Stout (3-8) last Saturday afternoon at Siebens Fieldhouse.
The Beavers, who improved to 8-3, will resume Iowa Conference play this Saturday at Luther at 4 p.m.
Both teams shot the ball well early on as the Blue Devils built a seven-point advantage (16-9) with nearly 6 minutes gone by. BVU then went on a 12-2 run to grab a slim 21-18 lead at the 11:55 mark.
UW-Stout evened the score at 27-27 2 minutes later before BVU began to pull away from there. The Beavers used a 16-6 run to go in front 43-33 before going up by as many as 15 with just less than 2 minutes left in the half.
The Blue Devils pulled back to within nine at the 15:30 mark of the second half before BVU built its biggest lead of the game at 26 just more than 5 minutes later.
UW-Stout cut its deficit to 17 with just over 5 minutes left to play, but that proved to be as close as the team would get.
Matt Cleveland and Brian Fogleman each chalked up double-doubles to lead Buena Vista. Cleveland scored a team-high 18 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, as Fogleman added 15 points and 11 boards.
Andre Wagner also chipped in with 15 points, while Travis Person and Adam Friedrichsen added 12 points apiece. Rahn Franklin Jr. dished out a team-leading five assists for BVU as Wagner, Eric Holton, and Jeff Bissen each dished out four.
Joshua Huettl led all scorers with 20 points, on 6-of-7 shooting from downtown, to lead the way for the Blue Devils, who connected on 17-of-32 shots from beyond the arc. Jerrel Enerson-Matthews and Dre Jefferson followed with 11 points apiece.
