ACE students wrap up a good Christmas for family

Wednesday, December 19, 2007

The Advanced Career Exploration (ACE) students recently took time from their regular classroom activities to participate in a community service project. While the primary objective of ACE is to prepare students to graduate and become productive members of the workforce, the ACE program also recognizes the importance of participating in community service. It has been proven that through involvement in community service projects, students are provided opportunities to develop their helping skills. Helping others is a confidence-builder for many students and can be transferred to the work place where employees help customers and other employees. Helping others is sometimes the first step for people to begin helping themselves.

Under the leadership of Ana Espana, ACE Community Service Representative, ACE students adopted a family from the Upper Des Moines list, set a budget, and shopped for each family member. Wrapped gifts and gift cards were then delivered to the Upper Des Moines office.
