Freshman Meghan Glawe put back a rebound in overtime with time expiring, and the Aurelia girls basketball team beat Ruthven-Ayrshire 47-45 Tuesday for its first win of the season.
Aurelia (1-2) trailed 12-6 after the first quarter and 19-14 at halftime. The Bulldogs scrapped back, however, taking a 28-26 lead after three periods with 14 third-quarter points.
The teams went into overtime knotted at 38-38.
In overtime, the Bulldogs had the ball under their own hoop with just six seconds left before Glawe's eventual game-winner.
Leah Kai led Aurelia in scoring with 18 points, while Tiffany Johnson notched 10 and Glawe eight.
Kaitlin Sandine and Erin Laursen finished with four points apiece, and Audrey Winterhof rounded out the Bulldog scoring with three points.
Kai had a team-high eight rebounds, while Glawe had seven, Johnson and Sandine six apiece, and Laursen five.
Kai had seven assists, with Laursen adding three of her own.
Cassidy Smith paced R-A with 17 points.
G-H tops Aurelia
One night prior to the Bulldogs' win over R-A, Aurelia played host to Galva-Holstein and dropped a 53-37 decision.
Kai and Glawe led the way for Aurelia with 15 and nine points, respectively.
